How to apply

To become a member of Ipswich Basketball Academy you must successfully meet the admissions criteria at Copleston Sixth Form. The school offers a wide range of A-Level and Level 3 Courses that suit most academic pathways.

Selection to The Academy is extremely competitive with several applicants trying to become one of the players selected.

You will need to complete the ‘sixth form application form’ available from the school. This form provides the school with your predicted GCSE grades and a reference from your current educational establishment. On the front of the form you must indicate in the appropriate box that you wish to be considered for a place on The Basketball Academy.

On submission of your application a member of the basketball staff will contact you for more details of your basketball background. The information you provide will help us to establish more information on your previous level of basketball competition and accompanies our scouting network that is present at events throughout the country. The information that you provide might result in you securing an invitation into the school to participate in taster sessions with our current students or as part of an open try out with other applicants.

Selection into The Academy is an evaluation made by our coaching staff. The main criteria for entry is the current ability or the potential ability to play at the highest levels of basketball within the UK.

The Academy is willing to accept students from outside the immediate area of the school and has a number of host families for students. Our experience of students living away from home ensures that we have developed successful pastoral measures to make sure that students receive the support required.
