The Under-16 Boys started the weekend with a 92-79 win over Newham All Stars Sports Academy, benefitting from a huge 39-point third quarter.

After limiting their opponents to 27 points in the first half, Coach Adam Robinson‘s boys exploded offensively in the second half. Ethan Price led the scoring effort with 24 second-half points, leading to a game high of 28. Ahmeed Yusoof added 17 while Seb Mobee and Jacob Morgan both scored 16 to help Ipswich secure the win.

The boys followed this up with a tough 67-77 loss at home to Kent Crusaders on Sunday.

Ipswich gave up 29 first-quarter points in a below par start to what turned out to be an exciting game at Copleston.

After trailing by as much as 18 the boys swing momentum in their favour for the majority of the second half and brought it back to single digits, but ultimately would run out of time to complete the comeback.

“This was a gutsy performance for sure, but a slow start in the Premier Division is always costly,” reflected Coach Robinson.

Price led the scoring with 25 while Yusoof added 18 and Morgan 13.

Ipswich travel away to Sussex Storm next weekend.
