Five more selected to national teams

The mark of any sports club is how well it develops talent – and our programme is once again leading the way.

No fewer than five of Ipswich Basketball Club’s thriving junior programme have been selected for the under-15/16 National Teams programme for the coming year.

On the girls side Esther Little, Ella Pearson and Cameron Taylor Willis have been selected while Ben Winter and Veron have both made the cut for the boys.

Speaking on the achievement, Ipswich Head Coach Nick Drane said: “Huge congratulations to Cameron, Ben, Ella, Veron and Esther on their national team selections!!

“This just proves yet again that we are right there with the best programmes in the country. I would actually argue we are ahead…. Sleepy little Ipswich, a town with a population of just over 100,000 has more players in the national teams set up than most of our major cities. Ipswich Basketball Club’s status as one of the leading development programmes in the country has been validated again.

“The players should be pleased with this but I am always very quick to point out that this is the beginning, they now need to prove the selectors right!”

The five stars join Maya Price, Frances Musson and Caleb Fuller who were selected in the u17/18 age group earlier this month.

“We have consistently produced players to this level over the years. It bodes will for our academy programme at Copleston that we continue to produce some of the best talent in the country”, added Drane.
