Head coaches for all teams are now confirmed ahead of the 2016/17 season, with three first-time head coaches joining a group of established faces.

Among those to have stayed in place from last season, Nick Drane will continue with the Senior Men and Academy Women, while club captain Tom Sadler returns as Academy Men’s coach.

Amy Linton and Hayley Rigby continue in their roles as Girls’ under-16 and under-14 coaches, respectively.

Dave Girling and Arron MacDonald are both returning, but they have switched roles for the new campaign, with Coach Girling taking the Boys’ under-18s and Coach MacDonald switching to the under-16s. Coach Girling will also coach the under-12 Boys in 2016-17, with Kathryn James continuing with the under-12 Girls.

Alongside them are three head-coaching debutants: Adam Robinson will lead the under-18 Girls, while Colin Dockrell and Syd Payne will coach the Boys under-14 1st and Development squads, respectively.

“IBC prides itself on developing coaches as well as players, and the fact that we are able to put out so many junior teams this season is testament to the depth of our coaching pool,” said club head coach Nick Drane.

“One or two of our experienced coaches, for instance Nick Newman and Noel Lambert, have chosen to take a break this season, and it’s extremely encouraging that we haven’t struggled to find either talented existing assistant coaches, or exciting new volunteers, to fill the vacancies.

“We also have a couple of new assistants and TMs this year, who perform invaluable roles supporting our head coaches, and we’re pleased to welcome some new volunteers in those roles too.

“Volunteers are the life blood of community sports clubs, and Ipswich Basketball Club are privileged to retain such a dedicated group of people in ours.”
